Dad and I visited the LoveRugbyLeague.com Stadium today in order to watch the Batley Bulldogs showdown against York City Knights. It was just a couple of weeks ago that the club proudly announced their partnership with the popular rugby website, but that wasn’t the only major news they had hidden up their sleeves. As we found out today, it would seem that Batley Bulldogs now have a partnership with Boocock Commercials Ltd: a transportation company with depots in Batley and Leeds. We walked through the turnstiles to find one of their wagons parked around the back of the main Glen Tomlinson Stand. It features Ben Black scoring a try on one side, and Danny Maun, doing the same, on the other. It closely resembles the Eddie Stobart trucks that feature Super League players, in light of their partnership with the league above us. Personally, I think this is a great idea. Not only does it promote the club, it promotes the town of Batley and rugby league as a whole. I was really looking forward to seeing what the announcement was, and I now think it would be pretty cool if we ever saw the truck, by chance, whilst out and about!
Final score:
Batley Bulldogs – 50-0 – York City Knights
